2019 CHALLENGE

Celebrating SQG’s 30th Year Anniversary

This year, the Challenge Committee hopes all of our quilters (traditional, modern, art and everyone between) will participate in our challenge.  So……..we are leaving most of the choices up to you & your imagination.  Only two criteria – size and the inclusion of part or all of the 5” square of pearlized cotton provided.  The choice of fabric was influenced by the 30th anniversary theme of pearls.  The pearlized fabric must be on the front of the piece.  If more fabric is needed, you may find it on the internet Michael Miller Fabrics D#CM0376, Fairy Frost or Quails Nest did a special order from Timeless Treasures named Shimmer Pearl.

  Theme:  30th   Pearl Anniversary

 Subject:   Your choice

Size:   18” square or smaller.  The 18” square equals a tota  of 72 inches.  So you may take these inches and make a circle, rectangle, etc.

Due Date:  Sept. 9th Guild meeting

Label:  Not needed for guild presentation but needed at the quilt show.

The quilts will be displayed at the Sept meeting and voted on.  Since we will be voting on our favorite, please bring yours in a bag or disguised somehow.  First place will get $25, second place $15 and third place $10.

No sleeves are needed or required.  They will be displayed at the quilt show on a pin board.  A label does need to be applied for the Quilt Show.

Quilt construction: The quilt should be 3 layers – top, batting, backing. You can use any method and any embellishments. Again no sleeve required or photo needed for the quilt show.
